The space
Please read this full listing before booking. There's a lot of detail here because I want you to know exactly what you're getting. Message me before booking if anything is unclear. By submitting a request, you're confirming you've read everything and you're good with it.
The suite is one large room with stone tile floors, area rugs, a ceiling fan, and a mini-split AC and heater with remote. Fully climate controlled. Desert summers are no joke, and the AC works well.
Sleeping: King smart bed on an adjustable base with head/foot positioning, anti-gravity setting, three massage modes, and a motion-activated under-bed light. Two nightstands with three drawers each. Extra blankets in the room.
Living: Roku TV with all major streaming apps, Bluetooth speaker, reading corner with books, full-length mirror, six-drawer dresser, desk with chair (a second chair is in the kitchenette if you want to use the desk as a dining table for two). The overhead light, ceiling fan, two crystal pendant lights over the bed, and the reading lamp are all remote-controlled. The lamp has a color-changing bulb with 10 options.
Bathroom: Walk-in shower with bench, large fixed showerhead with multiple settings, and handheld showerhead. Body wash, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, hair dryer, full first aid kit, Q-tips, plenty of towels and washcloths including two black makeup washcloths.
Kitchenette: Behind a sliding barn door, separate from the bedroom. Mini fridge with real freezer, microwave, two electric burners, toaster oven, pots and pans, full cooking utensils, cutting board, knife, mixing bowl, all dishware, mugs, wine opener, can opener, food storage containers, foil, dish soap, sponge, dish towels, and drying rack. There's a tower fan next to the burners for ventilation. Cooking basics stocked: olive oil, salt, pepper, Tajin, garlic seasoning, filtered water pitcher. French press coffee setup with ground coffee and real creamer options. The other half of the closet has a hanging bar for clothes.
Other amenities: Dedicated guest WiFi, USB-C charger, guest umbrella, clothing steamer with ironing board, fire extinguisher, two luggage racks, coasters and placemats, lanterns for walking the yard at night, 29 Palms guidebook and JTNP map (please return at checkout).
Outdoor space
Four separate hangout zones, all yours to enjoy during your stay.
Covered patio: Deep lounge chairs with ottomans, side tables, rechargeable lamps, outdoor blankets in a bin, curtains for shade. Your own patio light switch is right inside the suite door.
Dining and grill area: Outdoor dining table with four chairs, solar-lit umbrella, full-size Char-Broil gas grill (propane and grilling utensils provided), a side burner if you'd rather cook outside than use the kitchenette, prep table, hose, and a small cooler for drinks.
Hot tub zone: Hot tub set around 102°F, plus a separate dining table, candle lanterns, and rechargeable candles.
Fire pit and daybed: Galvanized fire pit with benches, daybed with pillows under the mesquite tree, additional chairs, side tables, lamps, and blankets in a bin. Cornhole boards and bean bags also available. Firewood bundles with fire starters available on-site for $15, just let me know. Please don't use the fire pit when windy due to fire hazards.
All string lights are solar-powered and come on automatically at sunset. The backyard is a real desert garden: oleanders, olive tree, mesquite tree, lavender, barrel cactus, massive rosemary bush. You're welcome to cut some rosemary for cooking.
Hot tub details
The hot tub is set and ready anytime, typically around 102°F. Clip-on drink tray (plastic only, no glass) and phone holder included. You'll remove and replace the cover before and after each use. Instructions with pictures are in the guide you'll receive 48 hours before check-in. Please don't drag the covers on the ground so they do not puncture.
Use of the hot tub is at your own risk. Please rinse off before use to help with sanitation. It really does make a difference in maintenance of the hot tub. No glass in or around the hot tub. Plastic cups are provided in the suite.
About Una
Una is my dog. She is medium/large, very friendly, used to guests. She will not be in your suite. She lives on the property and sometimes hangs out in the yard. You can engage with her as much, or as little, as you wish. If you can, message me about an hour before arrival so we can meet and I can introduce you. If you have a dog allergy, this is not the right listing for you.
The vibe
This is the high desert. Unpredictable winds, dust, or a few leaves on the daybed are part of it. The outdoor space is cleaned before every stay, but nature doesn't wait for checkout. If you're the kind of person who can brush off a few leaves and settle in, you'll love it here.
I'm a low-key host. The guides you'll receive before check-in cover everything: WiFi, hot tub, grill, and much more. Check-in is anytime after 4 PM. The smart lock makes self check-in easy, but I'm easily reachable if something comes up or you have questions. If there are things I can do to improve your stay or the experience for future guests, please let me know.
Guest access
Your own private entrance through a coded side gate, plus a separate smart lock code for the suite door. Both codes are sent after booking. The smart lock generates a unique code per guest that expires at checkout. The covered patio, full backyard, hot tub, grill, fire pit, and all outdoor zones are available for you to enjoy during your stay.
The backyard is a shared space. Most of the time I'm doing my own thing inside or out and about, but I occasionally use the yard too. If so, I’ll be in a different section and I'm always mindful of your privacy.
Other things to note
There are outdoor security cameras at the front of the house, the side gate, and back door for property security, not guest monitoring. No cameras inside the suite or pointed at any guest areas.
When booking, please send a quick message introducing yourself and sharing a bit about your trip. Include the name of any guest staying with you. No third-party bookings. Commercial photography welcome by request.
Parking: In front of the empty lot directly next to the house, not in front of the house itself.
Check-in: 4:00 PM. Check-out: 11:00 AM. Earlier or later may be possible depending on the schedule, message me.
Same-day bookings may be available. If you're looking to book within 24 hours, feel free to message me. The place might already be clean and ready.
Max occupancy: 2 guests
Septic system: Only toilet paper in the toilet. No wipes, tampons, pads, condoms, or other items. Foreign object clogs are subject to a minimum $250 fee.
Suite door: Keep it closed when not actively going in or out. Desert critters will find their way in.
Internet: Generally solid, but extreme wind or occasional power outages can cause fluctuations. Rare in this neighborhood, but it can happen and is out of my control.
Location
Indian Cove neighborhood, Twentynine Palms. Quiet, residential, friendly neighbors who keep to themselves.
About 3 min drive (or 3-mile walk) from Boy Scout Trail. About 5 min from Indian Cove campground and trailhead. Both are Joshua Tree National Park access points near the house.
About 15 min from the main North Entrance to JTNP, or 20 min from the West Entrance in Joshua Tree. The North Entrance is the better move during busy times: shorter lines, less traffic, more chill overall.
10 min to downtown Joshua Tree and downtown Twentynine Palms, both with restaurants, bars, and local shops. Nearest grocery store is about 7 min away.
Open desert walking is right around the corner, no car needed. The off-road access starts at Sullivan and Copper Mountain Road, about 3-5 minutes on foot.
